King Tutankhamun Tells All!KING TUTANKHAMUN TELLS ALL!, by Chris Naunton and Guilherme Karsten, Thames & Hudson, June 8, 2021, Hardcover, $16.95 (ages 6-8)

Learn about the life of an ancient Egyptian king from the pharaoh himself in Chris Naunton and Guilherme Karsten’s King Tutankhamun Tells All!

What would happen if the famous people of ancient Egypt were given the opportunity to tell their version of historical events ― in their own words? It would be incredible! In this highly entertaining and comically illustrated book, King Tut is brought back to life to let readers in on the juicy details of his truly remarkable life.

In King Tutankhamun Tells All! readers hear firsthand what it was like to be rudely awakened from the afterlife by archaeologist Howard Carter, who discovered Tut’s tomb in 1922. Listen to Tut brag about his collection of blingy 18-carat gold sandals; discern the fake news from the truth about Tut’s premature death; and relish the gory detail of Tut’s mummification in this book by Egyptologist Chris Naunton. —Synopsis provided by Thames & Hudson

There’s no doubt that King Tutankhamun Tells All! will be a hit with kids. How do I know? I had planned on reviewing this book a lot earlier, but my 7-year-old kept “borrowing” it. And now that I have it back, she’s made me promise she can have it for good once I’m done. Not only that, but she’s been sharing Tut trivia on a regular basis.

Ancient Egypt seems to really hit a chord with kids and adults alike. There’s mystery, mysticism, and pageantry all mixed into one. In this book, Tut gives readers the inside scoop on his life, complete with snarky comments. His conversational tone makes the text enjoyable, and the information is divided up into bite-sized nuggets.

Bright, bold and humorous illustrations add interest, as does page layout.

King Tutankhamun Tells All! is one of those books where you learn without feeling like you’re learning. It’s a great option for budding Egyptologists and enthusiasts alike.
