WORLD OF POLLINATORS: A Guide for Explorers of All Ages: Fun Projects, Over 600 Amazing Facts About Plants, Bees, Beetles, Birds, and Butterflies (Creative Homeowner) Outdoor Activities for Kids 8-12, by Editors of Creative Homeowner, Creative Homeowner (Fox Chapel Publishing); First Edition, June 20, 2023, 14.99 (ages 8-12)

Get to know the insects that call your garden home in World of Pollinators: A Guide for Explorers of All Ages.

Inside World of Pollinators, kids will learn about important pollinating insects, their unique traits, and the impact they have in our environment. They’ll also learn about other nature topics — from what pollen is and how it works to why some insects and birds are pollinators while some are not. Also included are easy outdoor DIY projects kids can create that will make a difference in their own ecosphere; illustrated guides showing different types of birds, insects, and furry animals that pollinate; flowering plants that attract pollinators; regional maps; and fun facts.

This educational, hands-on, 144-page book provides outdoor projects for kids to get involved in nature while also protecting it, including learning how to make a hummingbird feeder, pollination station, bee house, pollination water station and a bug hotel.

    The book features:

        • More than 600 fun facts and easy-to-read articles kids will love all about nature and its inhabitants, including birds, bees, butterflies, bats, bugs, and more.
        • Teaches kids 8-12about important pollinating insects and other valuable nature topics, from the parts of a flower to which of our favorite foods depend on pollination.
        • Illustrated guides to types of bees, wasps, butterflies, moths, beetles, and more, plus which flowering plants attract them. —Synopsis provided by Fox Chapel Publishing

World of Pollinators is one of those books that kids just want to dive into. Bold color photographs are featured heavily throughout, giving kids a visual representation of almost everything they read about. Text is divided into small, easy-to-digest sections, making it possible for readers to flip through or read from front to back.

At more than 140 pages World of Pollinators is quite a bit longer than your standard picture book, but it’s quick-moving and there’s equal amounts photographs to text. It’s a fast, engaging read that’s perfect for exploring this summer.

The publisher’s suggested age range for World of Pollinators is 8-12, but due to the book’s simplicity, it’s better suited to kids 6-10.
