In case you’re wondering, Counting in Dog Years is as fun as the title implies. Betsy Franco’s bouncing text are a joy to read aloud. The words practically roll off your tongue. And her poems are funny. Laugh-out-loud funny.
And so are Priscilla Tey’s quirky illustrations. Her artwork pairs perfectly in tone and depiction.
Counting in Dog Years is a great combination of creativity and math. Kids who like poems, math and silly illustrations will all be drawn to it. The book is a great option for the classroom as it illustrates how many subjects can overlap and benefit from each other.
